Material comprises: 1) Manuscript document, 'An Essay on the Question Whether are the faculties of women more powerful, or their passions more violent than those of men?' written by W. A. F. Browne on 31 May 1821 2) Booklet of Testimonials in favour of W. A. F. Browne, Surgeon, as candidate for the Montrose Lunatic Asylum, Infirmary and Dispensary, 1834. The booklet begins with Dr W. A. F. Browne's letter of application to the Managers giving an outline of his career and is followed by 48 testimonials in support of his application. 3) Report to the Directors of the Montrose Lunatic Asylum, Infirmary and Dispensary, for year ending 1 June 1837. 4) Report read at the Fourth Annual General Meeting of the Montrose Mechanics Scientific and Literary Association, 27 August 1838
