Illustrated by a pen-drawn map of the entrance to the Mississippi, and a few rough pencil sketches of coast lines. The journal begins Jan. 10th, 1813, and ends March 9th, 1815.

Biographical note

The writer saw service at the end of the Peninsular War in Portugal, Spain, France, and in the New Orleans expedition in 1815, as a junior military surgeon.
