Description

Ornithological memoranda. [The Arctic], 1818; [H.M.S. Hecla]1819-1820 The same year as his election as FRS in 1818, Sabine was appointed astronomer to the Arctic expedition in search of a north-west passage; in 1819 he was again appointed astronomer to another expedition to the Arctic in H.M.S. Hecla under Edward Parry, which set up quarters at Winter Harbour, Melville Island. These observations were made on both expeditions.
