About this work

Description

This subsection presents material assembled by George Fraser in the course of preparing the book, The Causes of Profound Deafness in Childhood. A study of 3,535 individuals with severe hearing loss present at birth or of childhood onset, with a foreword by V. A. McKusick (Johns Hopkins University Press, Baltimore and London, 1976).

The bulk of the material was found within large envelopes organised by chapter (D1, D2 etc) and within the envelopes were separate files and some loose papers.

The material includes drafts of chapters, tables and figures, and reference material in the form of offprints or photocopies also including unpublished typescripts and notes. There are also very many case files, from all the surveys, that were selected by Fraser as illustrative of various auditory impediments.
