A private photograph apparently taken by Capt. K. M. Robertson R.E., 2nd field company R.E. M.E.F, a member of the Royal Engineers (RE) and the Middle East Forces (MEF) in World War II. Subjects identified in inscription on verso: L. to R. Gompertz, Goodman, H.W.M., Christie. Propaganda: not[e] the dejected look on the British troops' faces. N.B. It is the sea in the background, not the desert. K.M. Robertson"
