Cuttings from pharmaceutical journals and local and national press re award to Dr John Vane (Research & Development Director of the Wellcome Foundation Ltd) of the Nobel prize in 1983 for his discovery of prostacyclin and his discovery that anti-inflammatory compounds, such as aspirin, can reduce the risk of formation of blood clots that can cause heart attacks and strokes: 'When R and D equals…Nobel Prize'. (Also includes 'Tomorrow's World' report on further research by Vane into a drug that could be of benefit in the treatment of arthritis).
