About this work

Description

Two volumes containing notes on massage. One notebook contains text under headings such as "Objects of Massage", "A few notes connected to the body which are necessary to know", "Various movements of massage" etc. It includes practical instruction as well as theory. The second volume contains mainly captioned, coloured diagrams; initially showing massage techniques ("firm stroking with fingers between muscles of the forearm to stimulate the circulation and break up the effusions after inflamation", "Spiral stroking used to sooth irritable parts, or to commence breaking up effusions after the subsidence of an inflammation" etc.) but moving on to include anatomical diagrams ("The Circulatory System", "Diagram of Alimentary Canal from end of Oesophagus to Anus", "Muscles in the Human Body" etc.). Also included is the depositor's letter.
