The author obtained his M.D. at Queen's University, Belfast in 1882, and was elected F.R.C.P. in the same year. He was physician to the Royal Victoria Hospital, and from 1899 to 1923 professor of medicine at his native university [Cf. B.M.J., 1931, ii, pp. 1201, 1202].
