Description

Collection of cookery recipes, with a few remedies, in various hands.. The bulk of the entries were written by one William Dyott Burnaby, and many record recipes of his (?)mother, Mrs Burnaby, and other family members.

1 volume 1 volume, 200 x 155 mm., 37 ff. Modern yellow buckram-covered boards, with gilt leather spine, lettered 'M.S. Recipe Book. 1824'. Ownership inscription: 'Mrs Burnaby's reciept [sic] book/ January 22nd 1824. St Margarets Leicester. Written by William Dyott Burnaby' (f.1).

Acquisition note

Purchased from A R Heath, 2001.

Biographical note

The ownership inscription (see Physical Description) suggests that the Burnaby family had ties to Leicester.
