About this work

Description

Casebook compiled [at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh], probably by an unnamed student, November 1827-April 1828, with one additional case, June-July 1828 (ff. 144-148). The physicians in charge of the cases were Drs 'Graham' [Robert Graham (d. 1845), Professor of Medicine and Botany] and 'Hume' [James Home (1758-1842), Professor of the Practice of Physic]. The cases from November 1827 to January 1828 may well have been treated by Graham; those from February to April 1828 by Home. Entries on 1 February 1828 refer to cases 'remitted to Dr Hume' (ff. 37, 41, 95 etc.). A number of cases end with a note on 1 May 1828 'remitted to Dr Graham' (ff. 177, 331, 451 etc.).
