About this work

Description

A Private and a Lance-Corporal from the East Kent Mounted Rifles. This photograph captioned 'Two hearts that beat as one' would seem to imply that not only were young working-class British men aware that homosexual love existed, but that they were sufficiently relaxed about it to pose for this spoof 'romantic' photograph (James Gardiner)

Lettering

Two hearts that beat as one!
