    Mr. O. C. Jenkins returned to the department as Principal School Dental Officer and Chief Dental Officer, whilst Mr. Gwilym Jones succeeded the late Mr. Maldwyn Jones. Mr. Glyn Lloyd and Mr. Lefi Williams joined the department as Mental YVelfare Officer and Deputy Ambulance Officer respectively. Miss E. J. Thomas also joined the staff as Health Visitor/School Nurse. It is with pleasure that I welcome them as new members of the staff. Building Programme : After some considerable difficulty with regard to obtaining suitable plots, I have pleasure in stating that during 1964 work wifi be commenced on new Adult and Junior Training Centres for the Mentally Subnormal in Llangefni, a new clinic and ambulance station at Amlwch and a new Home for the Aged in Amlwch. I would also like to take this opportunity of congratulating the Llangefni U.D. Council, their officers and the County Architect on the excellence and success of the Gian Cefni Flats, which were opened in September. This block of flats was specifically designed for the aged and are in receipt of grant from the Welfare Committee. This scheme has set a high standard not only for Anglesev but for the country as a whole. Tuberculosis : As will be seen on page 28 in the report of the Chest Phvsician the number of notifications of tuberculosis decreased from 38 In 1962 to 26 in 1963. This apparently satisfactory position, however concealed a sequence of events which gave me considerable concern but which I think and hope is now satisfactorily resolved. It con- cerned a village of some 800 inhabitants and the story starts in 1956. Case 1 . A man, aged 52, was notified as suffering from tuber- culosis. He died in May 1960 and had refused to enter hospital or to receive any after-care visits. ^ Case 2 : A boy, aged 4J, was found to have a positive reaction durmg routine M.P. testing at school in June 1962. His twin brother had converted to positive in 1960. Both these boys were related to Case 1 and had been contacts of his.
