About this work

Description

The commentary touches on the history of the use of amber, how it is formed, and how archeological sites where it is found in the form of hand made articles indicate the trade routes which linked the Mediterranean and the Baltic. Animal and plant inclusions in amber contribute to our knowledge of evolution. Many examples of amber are shown, from the unpolished resin to primitive jewellery and rings, pendants and trinkets showing how amber inspired jewellers' skill and imagination.
