About this work

Description

No record has been found of these tracts, nor of 'Eugenius'. They are apparently translations, perhaps from Latin, as the introduction states that they are 'nicht in derer gelehrten Mutter Sprache geschrieben'. A reference on the 25th leaf to the 'Homeri catena', would seem to point to the 'Aurea catena Homeri' of Ehrd von Naxagoras, published in 1723, and in later editions, and finally under the title of 'Annulus Platonis' in 1781 by Anton Joseph Kirchweger [cf. Kopp. 'Die Alchemie'. Vol. II, pp. 208-220]. It does not appear to have any connection with the works of 'Eugenius Philalethes', the pseudonym of Thomas Vaughan [1622-1626].
