Copy 1 Note: The t.p. ascription to 'Petrus Morellus, Gallo-Campanus, medicus regius', i.e. Pierre Morel of Vitry-le-François (M.D. Montpellier, 1607) must be an error. Prefatory material to earlier eds. (Geneva, 1628; Basle, 1630; Leipzig, 1645) shows that the author taught at Montpellier and thus can only be Michel Morel, who lectured there c. 1612-19 but failed to obtain a professional chair (See L. Dulieu, 'La médecine à Montpellier', vol. III, Avignon, 1983-86). Fly-leaf inscribed 'E lib. Joh: Browne chirurgi', perhaps John Browne [1642-1702], surgeon to St. Thomas's Hospital.
