About this work

Description

This is the third in a six-part series which uses cutting edge computer graphics and rare footage to show how the body fights for survival against the odds of trauma, illness and accident. This part focuses on accidents and illnesses that happen to teenage bodies and shows how remarkably resilient they are. 17-year-old Mohammed has been stabbed in the chest and stomach but 24-hours later his body is almost fully recovered. 19-year-old Danny leapt off a balcony at a concert and did terrible damage to his leg. Without emergency surgery he faces a below-knee amputation. We see extensive and detailed footage of his surgery. 13-year-old Zack has a tumour which is slowly crushing his spinal cord - detailed footage is shown of his surgery. 14 and 15-year old girls Sophia and Molly have alcohol poisoning and although seem critically ill on arrival at hospital, are well enough to leave after 4 hours.
