About this work

Description

Judith Miller, Dan Cruickshank and Julie Morris, are the house detectives who set out to trace the historical origins of B̀lackbush House', the home of Alex Sumner and Rachel-Francis Lang, on the South Downs in Sussex. The house was built in the mid 18th Century, as a purpose built isolation hospital, where some of the original experiments in inoculation against Smallpox were conducted, by Richard Newland. The patients were tenants and family members of Lord Selsey (James Peachey), the local Lord of the Manor.
