About this work

Description

Correspondence between Crick and Maurice Wilkins regarding Crick (1967), "An error in model building," a letter to Nature written in response to Pelc and Welton (1966), "Evolution of the genetic code."

The file includes typescripts of both Crick (1967) and Pelc and Welton (1966), as well as versions of a proposed retraction of Pelc's position (drafted by Crick), intended to obviate progressing the publication of Crick's letter.

A copy of a letter (17 January, 1967) from Wilkins to Max Perutz, summarising the position between the parties, is also included. Stephen Pelc worked in the Department of Biophysics at King's College London.
