Biographical note

In 1983 the FPA and the HEC joined a group of 11 contraceptive manufacturers to form the Contraceptive Consortium, but changed to the Contraceptive Foundation in 1984. This initiative aimed to reduce the risk of unplanned pregnency, by bringing together a range of groups involved in the manufacture of contraceptives, the provision of family planning services and the information providers to provide a greater awareness of all contraceptive methods and services.
