The archives were given to the library at Wellcome Collection by the family of Thomas Williamson in May 2012.

Thomas Williamson received a Commonwealth Fund Fellowship to study voluntary medical care in the USA in 1958. Upon his return in 1959 he worked at the Ministry of Health in London.
