When I firft employed this medicine, in the complaints to which this pamphlet relates, it was not from any expe&ations, I mult own, of flopping their immediate progrefs, but merely to combat difagreeable fymptoms luch as the lin- gultus, fubfultus tendinum and other con- i'ul five fpafms. I foon found it, not only, removed thefe unpromifing appearances, but alfo procured eafe, deep and a gen- tle diaphorefis, whilfl, at the fame time, the mortification regularly dropped. The circuindancc flruck me, but I fcarcely durfl flatter myfelf the (lop page of the complaint itfelf, in the firfl inflance, was owing to the medicine, till, from re- peated trials of it, I obferved the lame uniform effects.
