To the Chairman and Members of the C0NI3BR0UGH URBAN DISTRICT COUNCIL. rf Gentlemen, I have pleasure in presenting to you the Annual Report of the Public Health Department for the twelve months ended 31s^ December, 1946. This department is now separated from the Surveyor's Department, which due to the largo incroase in work in both theso departments, should prove boneficial to the district by this separation and I am of the opinion tho Council should bo complimented upon its foresight in taking this stop. vit;p statistics. Compared with the averages for the previous years of this district, it is found that the increases in the birthrate during last year has practically been maintained and that tho death rate from all causes has decreased considerably. The infantile mortality rate was decreased by a half of the figure for last year and now compares favourably with that for Ihgland and Wales. Tho maternal mortality rate was relatively low there being only ono case in the district. i ‘ * Tho following services aro provided under tho West Riding County Council Sc home.
