Description

Papers, programmes and newspaper cuttings in relation to the award of Honorary Doctor of Medicine to L S Penrose at the University of Göteborg [Gothenburg], Sweden, October 1966. Includes the following:
  • Order of Procession for the Doctoral Degree Ceremony [Doktorspromotion] enclosing a press cutting with a biography and photo of Penrose, and a press cutting relating to Sedwish musician Evert Taube, who also received an honorary degree at the same ceremony as Penrose. Describes Taube's behaviour during the ceremony and mentions a brief exchange between Taube and Penrose.
  • Seating plan from the Graduation Dinner, 22 October 1966.
  • Press cutting describing the proceedings of the ceremony, including a photograph of Penrose after receiving his degree.
  • Penrose's tickets for the graduation ceremony and the dinner.
  • Map of Scandinavia.
  • "Inbjudning til Doktorspromotion" "[Invitation to the Doctoral Degree Ceremony], a programme listing all the day's graduands.
  • Typed list of graduands, annotated on reverse by Penrose.
  • Booklet titled "Arv och Testamenten in Romarnas Sociala Liv" [Wills and Testaments in Roman Social Life] by Erik Wistrand. Encloses a page from Göteborgs Handels- och Sjöfarts-Tidning 22 October 1966, with a feature on Evert Taube.
