Collection formed by Vicente Salvá y Pérez, who also began the preparation of the catalogue before his death in 1849; his son, the compiler of the catalogue, died before the impression of the second volume, which was seen through the press by the latter's sons G. and E. Salvá. The collection (4,070 numbers) was acquired by Ricardo Heredia, Conde de Benahavis; much enlarged (8,304 lots) it was sold by auction 1891-94

An index to the Salvá and Heredia catalogues, compiled by G. Molina Navarro, was pub. Madrid 1913.
