About this work

Description

The Natural History Museum - ecclesiastical style architecture embodying scientific confidence - is the starting part for this episode, in which Prof. Anthony Clare discusses the reductionist effect of physical scientific advances and celebrates the powers of nature, which science may explain, but cannot overtake. Those who believe that an organism is more than the sum of its parts offer their vision of the seen and unseen world and urge that mankind should be viewed in the perspective of creation, every part of which has a claim to individuality. A visually delightful film whose contributors include Miriam Rothschild (biologist), Arnold Mandell (neurologist and mathematician), Thomas Berry (Roman Catholic monk and cultural historian) and Matthew Fox (theologian).
