About this work

Description

This is a grave register made as a copy for the Retreat, and compiled in June 1915 entering all burials from 1855 to 1915. It then has further additions of burials up to 1951. On page 1 is a block plan of the burial ground showing the arrangement of grave numbers. The register was compiled largely from information on the gravestones, but information from the Friends’ burial notes was also used. The reverse of page 1 contains a long note about how the register was compiled. The volume also includes the register for the burial ground annexe, in grave number order. The information in the volume thus covers burials from 1855 to 1951. At the end of the volume is a name index followed by various notes, including a note of burial fees.
