Description

Colour-enhanced, transmission electron micrograph showing a cartilage cell from the tibial cartilage. The cell contains a large round nucleus (green), a number of mitochondria and some rough endoplasmic reticulum. The cell is situated in a mass of fine collagen fibrils. This section has been produced from material that has been fixed using high pressure, freeze substitution and low temperature techniques.
