Correspondence and papers realting to BBC TV Horizon programme broadcast Jan 1986 'The Mould, The Myth and the Microbe'. Includes Heatley's correspondence with producer Dr David Dugan, Gladys Hobby and Merck & Co Inc, Rahway, New Jersey, relating to Dugan's background research in the US and filming in the US in May 1985; Heatley's notes and diagrams on the penicillin extraction by solvent transfer process; reviews and comments on the programme in 1986; material regarding repeats of the programme including printed booklet containing transcript of version broadcast 8 Apr 1991.
The programme was re-made by Dugan under a US company called Nova in 1986 (re-titled 'The Rise of a Wonder Drug'), and there is some correspondence relating to that as well as a group of letters and cards from the UK and US to Heatley about both the BBC version and the longer Nova version (largely congratulatory and complimentary).
