About this work
Description
Pocket notebook compiled by Dr Charles Harrison (c.1855-1944), doctor and Brevet Colonel in the Grenadier Guards, containing comprehensive details of the treatment of patients (largely from 2nd Battalion Grenadier Guards) in 1883 -1886. The notebook includes notes on each patient's condition, diet and drug treatments, with some graphs recording temperature, blood pressure etc. There is a list of patients and diseases (largely pneumonia) on page 134.
Harrison later became the first Commandant of Queen Alexandra Military Hospital in Millbank (opened 1905), where he was apparently known as 'the beloved physician'. In the First World War he was asked to reorganise an American hospital at Etaples.
