    branches from the hoemorrhoidal. A congeries of those vessels surrounds its external orifice in the form of a net-work ; besides which, there are a few muscular fibres which, together, have the power of constringing it. In virgins, the orifice of the Vagina is more or less narrowed by a thin membrane, called the Hymen; and when this membrane is destroyed, as after marriage, three or four minute triangular bodies are seen within the orifice, called Carunculee Myrtiformes, which appear to be the incipient ruge of the Vagina. The EXTERNAL sexual organs consist of the Labia, the Clitoris, and the Nymphe. The con- tiguous parts are the Mons Veneris, the Meatus Urinarius, the Perineum, and the Anus. The mons veneris covers the pubes, and is con- sequently placed between the groins. It is form- ed chiefly by a quantity of fat being accumulat- ed between the outer surface of the pubes and the skin. From the lower part of the mons veneris the Labia begin, and pass downwards to the peri- neum. ‘They seem to be folds or doublings of the skin, with a quantity of cellular and fatty matter interposed. Externally they are round- ed; but their internal surface is flattened, and re- sembles that of the inner surface of the lips of the mouth, being supplied with numerous fine mucous follicles. The union of the labia next the perineum is called the inferior commissure ; and between that and the lower edge of the orifice of the Vagina there is slight indentation
