Biographical note

Project Summary:Reykjavik concerns the development and production of a promenade/installation performance that immerses its audience in the architecture of memory. An interdisciplinary collaboration between Shams theatre and Professor William Randall, Reykjavik explores how the neurological and psychological processes of autobiographical memory develop significantly as we age, and how metaphor critically shapes cultural perspectives on memory. Audiences physically interact with an intimate, multi-sensory performance exploring writer/performer Jonathan Young's vivid experiences in Iceland, and provoking the question why we return repeatedly to certain formative sites of memory. Reykjavik will tour the East and South-East in 20~0 with a minimum of 20 performances.
