About this work

Description

Research notes compiled by Donald Arthur (‘Don’) Marvin (American PhD student, Medical Research Council (MRC) Biophysics Unit, King’s College London, 1956-1961), relating to crystalline form DNA and ‘C’ form DNA, including: manuscript drafts of an article, ‘A new crystalline form of DNA’, by Marvin and P J Cooper (apparently unpublished, though similar to Marvin, Michael Spencer, Maurice Hugh Frederick Wilkins and Leonard D Hamilton, ‘The molecular configuration of deoxyribonucleic acid. III. X-ray diffraction study of the C form of the lithium salt’, Journal of Molecular Biology, vol 3, 1961). Also computer aided datasets for lattice parameters (created using the Unit’s IBM 650 computer) and manuscript notes, relating to the crystal structure of ‘B’ form DNA and a comparative study between the projected orthorhombic lattice DNA crystal and a monoclinic lattice DNA crystal. Original file title ‘B 1 write up’.
