Description
The first Branch founded after the 1888 amalgamation of the Society with three provincial associations, was the Metropolitan Branch in Jul 1891.
It was formed on the recommendation of the Metropolitan Committee of the Society's Council and strictly speaking is the lineal descendant of the Metropolitan Association of Medical Officers of Health. The Branch amalgamated with the Home Counties Branch in Oct 1966 to form the London and Home Counties Branch [see N.5]
One minute book of the Branch council and meetings, 1924-1930, is held on deposit by the London Metropolitan Archive (Acc 2764).
