About this work

Description

Collection of medical tracts in verse and prose, including a poem 'Ars phlebotomandi' and another on Rosemary by Gardener: also a short leech-book, etc. The second in Latin, and the rest in English. These are followed by medical receipts and an anonymous 'Antidotarie of helthe' by several 16th cent. hands. The first section is written in a neat gothic, 20 lines to a page: ornamental capitals in blue and red, with marginal decorations: other initials in red, touched with yellow: paragraph marks and underlinings in red. Fol. 1 Mostly illegible, but containing medical receipts in English by a middle 15th cent. semi-current hand.
