Biographical note

Project Summary:Within the 2010 Edinburgh Science Festival this grant supports two strands of activity. ‘The Seven Deadly Sins’ is a series of public discussions for adults around the emotions, psychology and neuroscience of gluttony, wrath, sloth, pride, greed, lust and envy. It involves experiments for the public to test which of these 'sins' they are most likely to indulge in – and suggestions of what they might do to compensate for any overindulgences. The second strand, ‘ER Surgery’, invites children into the world of the operating theatre and reveals the human body as they will never have seen it before. Using specially designed manikins, children will role play as doctors and nurses to investigate a range of health problems and test their surgical skills as they try to put things right.
