Description

A portrait of a man, subsequently repainted as a portrait of William Cheselden by addition of a cap, books on osteology etc., and inscription. The additions were removed in the 1960s or 1970s and a different face revealed; it has a certain resemblance to Humphry Morice (1723-1785) as portrayed by Pompeo Batoni
