About this work

Description

Kaposi's sarcoma (KS) and Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia (PCP) This chest x-ray shows coarse, patchy reticulonodular shadowing, which is more pronounced on the left. The nodular component is particularly apparent in the left mid and upper zones. This patient had PCP and KS associated with HIV. The large nodules, up to 1cm in size, represent lung parenchymal KS. Disseminated tuberculosis can also give rise to a chest x-ray with patchy reticulonodular shadowing, but the nodules are rarely this large.
