Description

Papers received from Dr G C Bertram in February 1992 (CMAC Accession 412), relating to the Eugenics Society/Galton Institute and the Marie Stopes Memorial Fund. Individual items from the set of Annual Reports received from Dr Bertram were used to fill in gaps in the existing series in SA/EUG/A. One box of reprints, pamphlets, ephemera, mainly on the following subjects: Family Planning, Eugenics, IQ and Heredity, Population, Resources, Food, Nutrition and India, was handed over to the Modern Medicine collection in the Wellcome Institute Library; the journal Biology and Society was also transferred to this collection. An additional accession of papers (CMAC Acc no. 457) was received from Dr Bertram in January 1993. A number of publications have been incorporated into other sections of the list, but material relating to Dr Bertram's activities on the Council of the Eugenics Society and on the Marie Stopes Memorial Foundation have been incorporated into this section.
