Notes

Cecilia Kinnear grew up in both London and Dorset before settling down in Liverpool ten years ago. While she acknowledges a mixed cultural heritage, she feels a strong connection to Liverpool and considers herself an 'adopted Scouser'. Having studied politics at Liverpool University she is now a part time artist who also works in customer service at John Lewis. As an artist her work has predominantly focused on painting urban landscapes and she has done a lot of work on London, New York and Liverpool. She has also worked on installations, and she hopes to talk about this whilst up on the plinth. As a fan of Antony Gormley she heard about this project through the media and applied through the website. She believes most people feel alienated by modern art and thus enjoys the way this project is very open to the public. She has followed it since the beginning and has enjoyed the organic progress of the project particularly way its varied pace which she feels reflects the people of Britain who are all very different. With little initial planning, she finally concluded she wants to reflect on three things whilst on the plinth; Britain in the bigger picture, where she is from, and expressing herself as an individual. Whilst on the plinth she will perform three separate segments, the first of which will explore those who lead the economy and those who lead the government. The second will look at Liverpool City, examining its history and people. The third will focus on her being silly by performing and just enjoying the experience of being on the plinth.
