The Committee for Promoting Ckristianity among tlie Jews_, representing tlie Free Cliurcli of Scot- land^ entered, in the montli of December, 1845, into an agreement witli the writer to act as Medical Missionary at Jassy, Moldavia. The following para- graph in their Home and Foreign Missionary Record for June, 1846, notifies this arrangement:—The Committee feeling the necessity of strengthening the Mission at Jasay, have appointed Dr. Mason, formerly of Dumfries, with whose qualifications and disinterestedness they were fully satisfied, as Medi- cal Missionary at Jassy. From the low state of medical knowledge in that city, the prospect is held forth, and the hope cherished, that at no distant period he may have suflacient practice to enable him to continue his willing services to the Committee.
