    Lcingmead's Improved Manufacture of Fire Grates, $c. of the said Invention, for and during the term of years therein mentioned, to have, hold, exercise, and enjoy the said licence, powers, priviledges, and advan¬ tages therein-before granted or mentioned to be granted to me, the said Joseph Langmead, my executors, administrators, and assigns, for and during and unto the full end and term of fourteen years from the date of the said 5 Letters Patent next and immediately ensuing, and fully to be compleat and ended according to the Statute in such case made and provided; in which said Letters Patent is contained a proviso that if I, the said Joseph Langmead, should not particularly describe and ascertain the nature of my said Invention, and in what manner the same is to be performed, by an 10 instrument in writing under my hand and seal, and cause the same to be inrolled in His Majesty’s High Court of Chancery within four calender months next and immediately after the date of the said Letters Patent, that then the said Letters Patent, and all liberties and advantages whatsoever thereby granted, should utterly cease, determine, and become void, anything therein- 15 before contained to the contrary thereof in anywise notwithstanding, as in and by the said Letters Patent (reference being thereunto had) may more fully and at large appear. HOW KNOW YE, that in compliance with the said proviso, I, the said Joseph Langmead, do hereby describe and ascertain the nature of my said Invention, go and in what manner the same is to be performed, in manner following (that is to say):— These fire grates are for the use of cooking either in kitchens, or in camps, or in ships. They bake, boil, and roast with one and the same fire, and are a great relief against smoaky chimneys. They have a range of bars in front for. 25 the fire, and form a frame nearly four square in front of any chimney. One side of the frame or front is an oven, which stands part over the range barrs. Above the oven is a closett, which is kept hot with the same fire as heats the. oven. This oven is of an angeler form at bottom, which being placed over a part of the fire obliges the fire to circulate round on the extreme parts of the 30 oven, and keeps the same in a regular heat. The top of the oven is either of a sexagon or cylindrical form; at the back of the oven is a funnell, which con- _ • veys the smoak into the flue of the chimney. The front of the oven shews the nature of the flue round the same. It has in it one hole on each corner, for the purpose of cleaning the soot from the oven. The other side of the S5 front or frame contains a boiler which boils, being placed part over the range bars, and is heated by the same fire. The boiler has an open chanell or flue all round it. At the back end of the boiler is a flat funell, which carries the smoak into the flue of the chimney. This boiler is of cast iron or of copper;,
