About this work

Description

Each of the 12 channels has a 'dongmai' (beating pulse, channel pulse. The term dongmai refers here to the location on the surface of the body where the pulse of the channel can be felt. The illustration shows a robust man in middle age. His hair is fastened in a topknot and he wears a cloth and elaborate sash around his waist. The locations of the dongmai of the 12 channels are marked with circles on his body, e.g. the taiyuan (Great Abyss) point on the lung channel of hand taiyin; the yinxi (Yin Cleft) point on the heart channel of hand shaoyin; the chongmen (Rushing Portal) point on the spleen channel of foot taiyin, etc.
