Notes

Lawrence Reed is from Bath. He is a composer and has been thinking for a long time about creating a musical monument. He is going to try and reflect his fear of heights through music while on the plinth. He is collaborating with the composer B Yianni who is going to be conducting the orchestra on the ground based on interpretations of Lawrence Reed's body language. The orchestra is made up of volunteers and expects to have 20 to 30 musicians. They will be recording the music and videoing the event. He likes the democratisation process of the project. He has had hypnotherapy to try and resolve his acrophobia. He describes himself as fairly alternative and eccentric, he is driven by music. He also runs a management consultancy business. His wife and daughters and providing for them are important to him; composing music is a big part of his life. He hopes that everyone involved in his hour has a great time. He hopes that there is a balanced mix of critique of his work on the plinth. He is doing the project for himself and his collaborator, for the participating musicians and for the immediate and later audiences.
