Ceramic rods, SEM

In this image a number of ceramic rods are visible, each topped with a bead of once molten material. These structures have resulted from attempts to improve the properties of fibre-reinforced composites for biomedical engineering applications. This image covers an area of 0.05 x 0.05 mm.
