Notes

Katherine Birdwood comes from East Sussex. Both parents are interested in the arts and she herself heard about the project through her art history teacher - she is in the second year of her A levels, and her teacher encouraged the whole class to apply but she was the only one to be selected so far. She said she wanted to support a charity whilst on the plinth and chose a small organisation as they have not had much publicity, called Chicks. The provide holidays for disadvantaged children from inner cities, etc to camps in Devon and Corrnwall. She was also going to throw sweets and make small figures.
