Description

The Endowment Fund was similar to the Benevolent Fund, but much smaller in size. It was established in 1893, along with the general appeal of that year to reduce the Retreat debt (see RET 3/1/5/4/1). It was originally designed to offer financial support for Friends. After the launch of the Benevolent Fund in 1919, the Endowment Fund was used for poorer patients who were not Friends
