About this work

Description

The group consist of semi-clad robed men and women some of whom clasp their hands together as if pleading; another woman dressed in an ornate gown and headpiece looks on from the right; the group of angels bear a torch and a cross on the clouds above; a town can be seen in the distance.

On the verso is another woodcut also bearing the same monogrammed initials. It illustrates a pastor in a pulpit in a Protestant church with a congregation kneeling before him. In the background the supper is dispensed before an alter. The scene represents the Lord's prayer 'Give us the bread we need today', the fourth sentence of the prayer.
