Description

Reincarnation = Evolution. Author's holograph MS. Written in red ink, with a circular diagram entitled: 'A rough picture of evolution' on the recto of the last leaf. The date '15.3.04' is found on the sixth leaf from the end. On the verso of the last leaf, from which the title as given above has been taken, he states: 'It [Reincarnation] can take place in reality when your ether soul has left this earths [sic] body, and you take on your Jupiter body, and then a second reincarnation takes place, for your soul has increased in electrical development, and passes to Saturn, whose gigantic screen like [sic] zone of ether can still higher evolute thy mind: and it is received into, a higher united spermatozoic electrical battery....'

Biographical note

The author was the grandson of Sir George Smith Gibbes, F.R.S. [1771-1851], and took his M.D. at Aberdeen in 1883. This essay is written, as he says, 'in the Australian bush', to which he had retired to meditate, lead the Simple Life, and produce this extraordinary theory.
