About this work

Description

Novelty giveaway folded leaflet advertising Bile Beans for Biliousness. The beans, invented by Charles Forde, are also recommended for indigestion, constipation, headache, anaemia, debility and dyspepsia. Folded it shows a group of 4 sickly, bent elderly men and a woman in profile. Opened up it reveals the same group standing uprght, robust, healthy and happy while an allegorical woman in classical robes showers them with small boxes of Bile Beans from a tray held at the hip in her right hand.
