British Births Survey

This survey covered all births in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland during the week 5-11 Apr 1970; including stillbirths and abortions over 24 weeks.

Two books were published:
Volume 1: The First Week of Life (1975) N.12/1
Volume 2: Obstetric Care (1978) N.12/2

The completed questionnaires (16,000) are at the Department of Child Health, University of Bristol.

Computer tabulations are being deposited with the ESRC Databank Essex University; one master tape (high density) was found among the NBTF records deposited at the Wellcome Institute, and has been passed on to the ESRC.
